Hydrant Maintenance

Starting Today, September 22, 2026, contractors will be doing hydrant testing and winterization throughout the City. This work is expected to be completed by the end of the week barring no complications.

As the hydrants are opened as part of this routine work, changes in water pressure in the surrounding water lines may cause discolored water to neighbouring properties temporarily.

When a hydrant is opened in your area, you may notice any of the following:

  • water from fire hydrants going into the street
  • slight drop in water pressure
  • temporary discoloration as sediment is flushed out of the line.

If you notice any of the above occurring, it is recommended to avoid using hot water where possible during that time to avoid drawing sediment into your hot water heater. After the work in your area has been completed, run a cold water tap until your line runs clear again. More information can be found at meadowlake.ca/water-faq

If your water has not cleared after 10 minutes, please call Public Works Department for assistance at 306-236-6240.
